Netflix reportedly cutting $300 million in spending to improve profitability. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ro5u1YrPUsI&t=34s Wall Street is asking Netflix to cut costs.
If you ask our executives they will call it targeted role elimination⌠they will spread it around a couple of months so it doesnât get interpreted as a mass layoff
Yes, Netflix just needs half of the headcount of Twitter.
What is the Twitter headcount these days?
Isnât it enough to just cut a little bit of programming, and not programmers?
To have no layoffs now is the exception, not the norm. It would be nice to be in Apple or Nvidia where there are no layoffs, but oh well.
Both apple and nvidia are planning a headcount cut in the next half of this year.
𤣠Thanks for leaking company secrets here
They waste a lot of money on stupid shows Plus overpay like crazy to shows, can cut 5-6 shows
Netflix engineers are way too overpriced. They work the same as Hulu, HBO or Amazon prime engineering and are paid 3-5x
They have a high quality code base from what I hear. So, at least theyâre getting their moneyâs worth from the engineers. But end users donât really care about how well a product is built.
You don't need highly paid engineers for that. I believe core Windows kernel code base is excellent and almost the benchmark for how to run a huge works class product for 40 years. Literally everyone is underpaid.
I donât get the comments about engineers are âoverpricedâ. Are you an engineer? Isnât that arguing against yourself? Do people also say ânah that company is making way too much money, they need to stop thatâ?
