I did not see this coming but good for both companies I guess? Also makes sense since Google and Comcast have products that compete directly with Netflix , TC 242K: https://www.cnbc.com/2022/07/13/netflix-partners-with-microsoft-on-ad-supported-subscription-plan.html #netflix #microsoft #ads
Smart move by Netflix, they can de-risk by leveraging MS for Ads. If it does not work, they just wont renew the deal. Good for MS, gives credibility as an Ad platform. I don’t believe it brings any revenue upside, TAC on such deals is huge.
Not AWS? Hm intriguing.
Not really. Prime Video is a direct competitor. MS doesn’t have a streaming business (I think?)
Does AWS have advertising revenue?
Microsoft acquired Xandr media and with their capabilities allow MS to service Netflix with MS ad platform which will give MS the ability to layer in audience data from MS advertising network to those media buys.
I guess. Don’t understand why Netflix doesn’t sell merch (or do they?). Disney has a huge apparel and toys business.
I'm not sure there's much of a market for Squid Games plush toys LOL. Mickey Mouse seems to own the segment.
Delivery logistics are hard to scale?
