Netflix just announced the opening of a Toronto office as it's first Canadian office. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/netlfix-office-toronto-1.6004457 I wonder what kind of opportunities this will bring. #netflix #canada #toronto
Awesome. I hope they are remote friendly in Canada.
Good. This will now drive up the tech salaries in Canada.
There is no mention of tech jobs.
Netflix has seen that there’s nothing beneficial paying 650k for folks who only write create-react-app and npm start when they can get away with paying 150k CAD
More likely 400k cad
Just so everyone's aware, this will be similar to when FB first expanded to Canada. The article says there will only be departments for Marketing / Production, hiring roughly 10-15 to start. No mention of expanding engineering to Canada unfortunately. Hopefully soon!
I think Netflix will be Canada remote friendly with this move. But it will pay peanuts compared to jobs in US, although still top of market in Canada
It says production office for filming in the articles, not related to tech.
A good majority will probably be tech
Probably not much tech actually
Makes sense, forgot there’s a lot of production now too
