I recently noticed Netskope was installed on my laptop. (inb4 “oh your boss is trying to see if you’re watching porn or selling drugs hahaha”) Now on a serious note - this is tracking software - is this being used to verify work location for WFH?
It could be netskope agent for its CASB solution, to track what activities a user is performing in various sanctioned/ unsactioned SaaS apps. Also what data are you uploading/ downloading from such apps.
^This^
Could they be used to track how much work you are doing and which sites you visit?
Lol no. Just data loss prevention.
I noticed it yesterday. Creeping me out!
I can assure you it can track every site you visit, every slack message you send and every portable device you attach to your laptop.
Is there a way to disable it?
Not that I know of,
Jesus, am I the only person with a work laptop and a personal laptop?
It ensures your laptop is not compromised by malware, you don’t accidentally upload sensitive data to a cloud app or share it publicly, and your web activity is following company’s acceptable use policy (ex: no gambling allowed when using company’ computers). It can also give access to private company apps without having to VPN into your network.
You should assume it is, even if it isn't.
