I only have network related experience and wanted to know how competitive I would be for front end engineering roles. If you have made the change would like to know what your experience was like.
I transferred internally to a software position, worked for a year, then left
I started as a network engineer and moved into dev. Best decision I ever made. I feel like I face harder networking challenges now !
Leet code. I moved from frontend to networks and now, back.
Pretty sure if you can do distributed systems you can do front end lol
Not good front end.
You’re joking right? Distributed systems is way harder than front end
Not really network engineer but I moved from backend engineer in networks to front end in security team. Currently working end to end. Switching teams is easier than switching companies
There is a difference between doing front end at F5 networks and doing it in front end focused companies
Well, that depends on what kind of work you are doing. We have a whole different product focused only on front end
I work on extremely challenging things on the network side but I also am on the fence meaning I stay in both dev and network world now to use dev skills to the advantage of network side.
As long as you are strong on front end dev skills, transition will be smooth. Otherwise, project teams expect same output regardless of individual background.
Nobody really cares if you know your shit. Smart move btw 👌🏻
