Every week, thousands of professionals like you share your pay and job offers on Blind. Your contributions have helped make our total compensation tool one of the most comprehensive pay benchmarking tools online. Our total compensation tool has hundreds of thousands of data points about salary, equity and bonus for nearly every job function, major company, industry and state. But our total compensation tool is more powerful than a place to look up salaries. You can compare pay packages and get deeper into the data. We used our total compensation tool’s data to answer: - What are the pay bands for software engineers at Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta and Microsoft? - How does the total compensation at Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta and Microsoft differ for software engineers at similar job levels? - How many years of experience is typically needed to reach a certain job level at Amazon, Apple, Google, Meta and Microsoft? We found: - Promotions might take longer at Amazon. Amazon also has wide pay bands for engineers, so total compensation can vary heavily. - Apple's total compensation might be less competitive than its peers, but their job levels and pay bands are consistent and fair. - Google has one of the most balanced or consistent pay bands among Big Tech companies. This means it's rare for someone at a lower job level to get paid more than someone at a higher level. - Meta engineers appear to level up the fastest and have some of the highest pay. - Microsoft has many job levels for software engineers, which might give the company more flexibility to hand out more promotions. However, their total compensation is lower than their peers across the board up until staff software engineer. Check out our total compensation data under the More tab at the bottom of the app. Then, tap Total Compensation Data. You can also access the total compensation tool on our website by clicking the Total Compensation tab at the top of the page.
Microsoft's levels lmao. We do have a lot.
This is super cool. Thanks, Blind.
Meta promotion velocity and TC is just crazy. Good for folks who work there.
Principal with 10 YOE? 😐 Legends!
IC7 isn't actually Principal.
Microsoft Principal with 10 YOE is very doable. Not "legends" level. I got there in like 8 YOE and many of my peers did that as well.
Fix your moderation system please blind
@Chillr you need to chill.
This is very helpful. Thanks to everyone who worked on this study; hopefully this will help people here know what to negotiate for with specific companies. I’d love to see more studies like this in the future. TC: 105K
Blind make this guy your ambassador he’s my favorite blind poster
Thank you for the kind words. With that being said, I’m far from being an ambassador for anyone. I try my best to stand up for others, but I’m only mortal. I’m the least qualified here to speak on anyone’s behalf.
Thanks Blind team for validating the universal fact that MS pays 🥜
C1 makes shells of peanuts. 12 years of experience here means entry level FAANG
Thank god you’re telling that capital one. I love Finance, so C1 is always on my target list but it will no longer be lol
Amazon comps are way too low. The band starts around 348k in Seattle for newly promoted L6s. Most see well over 400k. Metas comps also seem on the lower end based on past offers.
Do they immediately get you to band? I thought they give you stocks that vest in two years which means you will eventually get to band minimum in two years
They brought many people in band in 2022. All by 2023 though stock dropped.
META pays the most??
In stocks though.
Then you get to sell the stock and get dollars or VOO or whatever
