New Mom: Facebook Posting Pics

Thoughts? I’m a new mom with several concerns about posting pics of my son on Facebook, my husband (non-tech) isn’t concerned. Part of me would like to for my friends and family to be more engaged but…. Concerns: 1) protecting my sons privacy/identity, 2) he doesn’t get to decide if/what I post, long term he might want to guard his information/image, 3) it’s facebook 😣 , 4) creepers #parenting #facebook #social media #ai #identrust

You’re not important enough for you to worry about this.

Financial Services Company fpqo21 Apr 29

You don't have to be "important" to worry. Everyone should be concerned with their personal data. Why give Facebook your images for free to mine and create algorithms for revenue?

If you are worried then don't. What is the problem?

What a waste of a post! Hard to comprehend the level of stupidity to ask this.

Sorry, you are too stupid to comprehend the need for this post.

Social media wh*re? That’s why you understand it! Super stupid!

Meta ghhhfrssxx Apr 29

Just don’t post. No one cares. Everyone is busy seeking attention.

Parent here. We don't post the kids. We'd prefer them to manage their own online presence as much as possible when they're the right age. Additionally, we'd rather them not be on social media at all, given how awful it is for children (if you don't think adults are trying to find and talk to children online, you're ignorant).

I never post! Even the “new baby” post pic had our (parents’) hands and baby’s feet 😀 kinda posting but not really posting 🤣 I have not posted his pics (with full face visible) yet (3 yo baby).

If Facebook, ig, WhatsApp etc are a concern but you still want to share just upload on Google photos or something of your choice and share the links with family.

Don’t post. Once it’s out there you can’t control it. I cringe when I see parents posting embarrassing photos and stories about their kids. Imagine your kid finding this stuff eventually with all the comments that won’t age well. Even sharing photos between family members is a risk so be up front with everyone you don’t want anything on social media. You know that harmless funny pic you shared with grandpa? Well he didn’t see the harm and posted it for you. Oh, and the school bully found it.

We posted first couple of years, then stopped. Baby pictures are not going to be used to steal someone’s identity.

I post pictures where you can’t see baby’s face. Not like put an ugly stamp on it, but photos of him from behind or obscured view. Seems to still be “cute enough” for peiple. 😂😂😂
