New World Order

The US was already losing its position as world exonomy leader. Now that the Coronavirus has hit us harder than other countries, do you think the US will lose power even faster.

Hortonworks ke8hw4zw May 6, 2020

No, US will stay as powerful.

Cisco ojaytnn55 May 7, 2020

Everything is relative. All other countries are in roughly just as much debt and have also all suffered from COVID. Long term US will lose reserve currency, but I guess we kick the can down the road for another 10-20 years

Adobe jsh47rh May 6, 2020

Not until the us dollar continues to be the world reserve currency

Amazon woopscat May 7, 2020

6t reasons why that can go away, and counting...

Cloudera coughka OP May 6, 2020

What if other countries stop using the dollar.

Walmart AFamilyMan May 6, 2020

That what if song is playing since world war II.

Cloudera coughka OP May 6, 2020

It’s getting louder

Cloudera coughka OP May 6, 2020

We already are at war. We’re just not battling it out the same way it was done 75 years ago.

Intel udyp50 May 7, 2020

The second cold war had already been lost. Look at all the American corporations censoring themselves for China. US corporations are cheerfully importing censorship for the sake of red money

Zoox qIWk51 May 6, 2020

The US was already showing problems before covid-19 but the complete chaos and inability to act on it quickly really emphasized the internal problems the US is having. China on the other hand is looking like a serious world power contender now. It's not going to flip soon, but the groundwork is there for the next 15 years if the US doesn't figure out it's inability to produce anything, mobilize government, prevent government infighting, etc.

Cloudera coughka OP May 6, 2020

When will China finally take over Taiwan? Will the US be able to do anything about it

Intel udyp50 May 7, 2020

Taiwan doesn't have natural resources worth having a war over. All of China's posturing is just that - posturing. Crazy to go to war over a piece of rock in the ocean

Microchip patrick999 May 7, 2020

Ha ha. Very interesting comment from an Intel guy. There is exactly one thing in Taiwan worth fighting for, TSMC.

When US starts the next war and gets defeated or seriously weakened then US would lose its power. Before that happens, no country dares to challenge US hegemony. Just look at history on how great empires rose and fell.

Datometry LangEr May 7, 2020

History teaches us that the greatest of empires were crippled from within. The outside force was just a catalyst in the eventual demise.

General Dynamics BobTBuildr May 7, 2020

Isn't Trump basically dividing the US more by being a bigot, racist, and plain stupid?

Facebook TioBlanco May 7, 2020

No, the F35 is the real reason our currency is the reserve one. Whoever holds air superiority can send any country into the abyss at their whim.

Intel udyp50 May 7, 2020

Air superiority is old hat. Nowadays it's all about asymmetric warfare

Facebook TioBlanco May 7, 2020

Asymmetric warfare is non-nation state, we're talking about nation state conflict here.

Intel udyp50 May 7, 2020

No it would still be sliding downward at the same exact speed as before
