Thoughts on new capital one venture x card. Better than chase sapphire reserve/Amex platinum?
The venture x is a no brainer for me atleast for the first year. After that also, it still makes sense
Take sapphire reserve and freedom unlimited - all your freedom unlimited points become 2.25 with reserve - this means flat 2.25 on all expenses. Travel and restaurants you’ll earn 3 points which become 4.5 with reserve If you have freedom as well - 5% category becomes 7.5% with reserve. The best is to have the 3 cards and use all. Nothing beats this.
This was the best trifecta when CSRs AF was $450. And this captured a lot of users for them too. Now they want to reap the benefits and want to actually get back the money they gave away these 5 years. It’s the end of the cycle where they are depending on people being lazy to switch to keep paying the AF. The cash back may seem a lot but you spend months just trying to break even. Then when you ACTUALLY start getting returns.. ppl with competitors cards have been making money for a few months now. Obviously depends on different peoples mileage but I’m talking about a general case
Amex Plat has become an expensive coupon booklet. Ventur X offers the best value because of the travel credit and bonus on renewal each year. The only unknown is Cap One portal which I haven’t used much. If that turns out to be reasonable, that card is a keeper. The biggest benefit of that card is free additional users and free Priority pass for each additional users. I used that to send a card and priority pass to my family in Indian. I am hoping they will enjoy the lounge whenever they travel next
Holy Cow. Looks like a great card! $395 fee and $400 worth of direct travel benefits every year. Not even counting the airport lounge access. Yep, I’m in. Thanks for the heads up!
300$ credit is through cap one travel portal
This should be a no brainer. Venture X is a "free" card if you travel at least once a year. With the $300 travel credit + the 10k miles they give you annually, you are guaranteed to get your money back. On top of that, you get the same 10x hotel + car rental and 5x for flights as csr. There's no point getting csr at all unless you eat at Michelin star restaurants a lot and/ or taking Lyft often. Platinum is debatable with all the credits you get back, but not worth it to me personally.
Thing that sucks about this card is the $10,000 spend on 6 months for 100k points. Amex is $6,000 for the same amount of points
Also I wonder how long they’ll keep the price tag so low. This is definitely a way to lure us into getting it and jacking up the fee next year

Who are these retards asking for dictatorship in India?
Amex plat ruined their rewards, did they not? I got the Venture X because I already have the CSP and the limited $200 credit for Airbnb along with the rest of the perks. I’ll probably keep it for a year then downgrade. Saving AMEX for last (from a churning perspective)
