6 Months unemployed - Take low offer?

Real talk: in what way private schools are better than public in nyc?
I'm going to graduate with a BS in comp sci this Spring and have two full time SWE offers to decide between. They are both in Seattle which is where I want to be so location isn't a factor. Redfin (return offer from internship) + Liked the team + Better WLB + Should be promoted within 2 years - Less compensation - Less stable in the event of a recession Amazon + Well known name (does this look significantly better on a resume?) + More compensation - Unknown promotion timeline - Unknown team assignment On one hand, I feel like I should take the extra money at this stage in my life but on the other hand, its really nice to be done at 5pm and not feel any pressure to take work home. I think what's making the decision hard is that there's a lot I don't know about Amazon and based on what I've heard, it sounds like your experience can vary widely depending on your team (and I won't know my team until I start). Are there other factors that I should be considering here? I have to make this decision by tomorrow so TIA for any advice! #redfin #amazon
Redfin no brained unless you want o live in the constant stress of getting PIP and 🍌
Came here to say that. At Amazon you will hate your life and possibly get PIPed.
Redfin! Trust me, you can always go to Amazon after Redfin. You must’ve been grinding in college as it is, take Redfin and chill and work on leetcode and system design in the meantime. Move companies after 2 years or so, you’ll be very well prepared.
Do people know of Redfin and respect it? I know it has less prestige than a FANG like Amazon so I'm just not sure how it gets considered on a resume. Maybe I'm overthinking it though and they just look at what you did and don't really care about the company?
lol prestige won’t help when you get PIPed after 6 months because you overslept once
Try to get more details on team and see how ops load is on the Amazon team. I vote for Amazon as it provides you good platform for future and you can always try to change in future if you don't like it.
They said I will get my team assigned 60 days before my start date so unfortunately, I won't know until after my offer deadlines.
I went to aws as a new grad, 7 months later I am leaving in a week lol
How come?
Better opportunity and tc elsewhere
Amazon will open more doors if you are willing to make the wlb sacrifice now
Do you think its just having Amazon on the resume vs Redfin? I'm curious how much the name matters vs your actual accomplishments at the company.
Accomplishments are objective and hard to verify. Recruiters see the name brand and know little about the tech. You can really kill it at your job and the companies you apply to won’t be able to judge that until long after they give you an offer.
Should have made a poll
Redfin is a good company if you like the team then go for it
Amazon doesn't look that much better as their recruiters are the thirstiest nowadays. Redfin (I have worked at Amazon)
Offer TC?
First year they are pretty close but then the following years, Amazon is about 13k more per year due to RSUs.
