Got offers from both Google and FB. TC: G: 144k base | 15% bonus | 135k RSU | 40k sign on FB: 129k base | 10% bonus | 150k RSU | 50k sign on YOE: 0 - I need H1B sponsorship and I'm from a country with GC backlog. - Location for YouTube seems to be San Bruno but not decided yet. MPK for FB. - Need a balance between career growth and WLB. - No internship experience before. - Money is not a big deal in short term. Any idea on YouTube PA? How about WLB, career growth, culture, perks, etc.? Thanks! #engineering #software #swe
Having worked in both, here's my experience: Google - focuses heavily on quality, as a new grad you might not add a lot to the product but you will get a lot of feedback from seniors and improve your skills. Facebook - focuses heavily on producing more output, you will add a lot to the product but might not learn the 'right' way of doing things. Pros of each: Google: learning new skills, WLB, no PIP culture FB: impact, career growth BTW, you should ask Google to reduce base and increase RSUs if you decide to join
Thank you for the info. I'm wondering is it possible to ask them to reblance base and RSUs for new grad?
All of what @cNTb51 said is true. I only experienced non-GCP Google and the engineering bar is really high. At Meta product teams are a shit show from an engineering quality perspective. Infrastructure teams are decent but no match for similar teams at Google. Given that you have a solid offer would take Google in a heartbeat.
Congrats OP, Your Google's offer is dope. 10K extra base, double the sign on and 35K extra stocks in comparison to a standard offer. Did you have any other competing offer or any special thing in your profile?
Thanks. I have a third offer with higher TC.
What is your third offer ?
Good to see G upping their TC game. That is a rock solid new grad offer !
Don’t join Meta if you think this is even a question
Hey, I'm also non-US citizen, can I ask you how you got sponsorship for a New Grad position? You only applied cold online?
I interned at YT, feel free to DM if you have specific questions! Generally I like the work culture there a lot and my team had great WLB but it was an infra team, I’ve heard some product teams are under more pressure. Also really liked the office, I’m not a big city person but I like being close by and San Bruno is good for that since SF is a relatively short BART ride away
