New grad negotiation (Toronto)

How serious is a company when they say it's the final offer Received offer from a startup in Toronto (on the top 10 startups LinkedIn list). TC is good (for toronto) but another company gave a higher offer (because no one wants to work there, so they make up for it by TC). Startup told me that it's their final offer, but that was before I received another offer. I'll accept the startup regardless but just want to make sure I'm not leaving money on the table. Is it a good idea to set up a call again, tell them I received an offer from X for (offer details) and if we can work towards a better comp package to match that offer. Again, I'd accept the startup regardless of having a lower offer, but just want to make sure I'm getting the best package. Thanks TC: 0, currently a student Offer TC 1: 90 base + performance bonus (no solid number yet) 2: 95 base + 10 bonus + 10 stocks

Congratulations! And Yes its no harm in trying, Be honest and clear with your recruiter. I did the same I didn't get a match but I got some hike in my Signing bonus

For my offer there's no bonus. Only base and year end performance bonus (no guaranteed number, depends on performance). Initially in the call, I asked if they can do anything about a signing bonus and they said that their comp is already higher than other toronto companies of similar size and for new grads and there's nothing they can do about the comp

As far as my experience is concerned I did negotiate twice, It was for California but I have seen friends negotiating. I thought every company keeps a buffer before giving the offer so. I would again say no harm in trying. If they say they can't its okay, but it should not happen that you didn't try. Tell them about this new offer and lets hope for the best!
