Serious, what’s the resume value of working in Microsoft Azure infrastructure as a new grad? I’ve been working 80 hour workweeks for about a year, and I’ve been learning a lot, however, I want to hop if the experience isn’t valued by future prospective employers. My goal is to build up as much experience as possible to become a competitive applicant to tier 0/1 brands (quant, Netflix, Roblox, Databricks, Stripe, etc). Who has insight on this? Will Google and Meta applicants automatically take precedence for the same positions? How do I distinguish myself without hopping? yoe: 1
Create a poll to let people choose on wlb on your company blind forum. Post the result screen shot here.
how many hours u work is not gonna inherently increase ur competitiveness as an applicant—it’s just what’s on paper (tenure, swe level, impact) it’s probably equivalent resume value whether you’re coasting or not
My hours are a consequence of me getting as many “bullet points” of impact on my resume as possible, especially across diverse skillsets on my team. My effort is moreso oriented around building up a robust experience to leverage and showcase to future employers and work experiences, as opposed to simply “racking up hours”. Is my effort better spent leetcoding to join Google in this case? that’s exactly the question I’m trying to answer with this post
Goog has 2 more rounds of layoff, why would you wanna join Goog
Ppl need to stop lying about the coasting/wlb at Microsoft. Lots of ppl here work long hours.
