I just started my position as a software test engineer at some medium size company about one month ago. Before that i was going through low paying contract position that didnt really do good meaningful work. So this is basically my first real job after college. When I first started, i joined in a team where they were building up their new features and my role was to adapt ui automation framework and api integration testing for their new features. I have worked closely with manual tester in that company and built my automation framework with java and selenium with cloud vm from scratch. Work has been pretty good for me since I was getting pretty busy with new stuff to learn and new technologies to get used to. But since this my first real job after college, Im not really sure if im doing the work well or not. I tried to be very proactive and asked alot of questions about something that i wasnt sure about. Since im the only one in the team who contribute writing automation testing framework, Im not sure if im keeping it up to their expectation or not. Maybe i worry too much since im newbie. I met manager last week 1to1 and we mainly talked about what kinda career goal and educational goal i had at this place. Not really about how im doing at work.
At about the 3 month mark, if your manager hasn't brought it up already, just ask"how am I doing? Anything I could do better?" I mention 3 months because you're still figuring the role out, and I doubt your manager has got a good read on you yet.
Ask your manager for a mentor then?
I think i need that cuz my manual tester boss doesnt know much about programming
