Here is the course: https://www.linkedin.com/learning/confronting-racism-with-robin-diangelo/understanding-what-it-means-to-be-white-challenging-what-it-means-to-be-racist Screenshots from there: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EumL6uhXcAA6j4q?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EumL7vyWgAogGfQ?format=jpg&name=medium https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EumL8YXWQAEzLHd?format=jpg&name=medium
Soon there will be courses to become less man, more woman. I.e. showing your empathy by sitting to pee instead of standing
Isn’t this a good thing?
Well, we can agree to disagree. (I’m white, by the way)
Good grief! Democrats are just plain crazy and racists!
I think liberals would be a more appropriate term. The democratic party may not necessarily agree with all liberal concepts.
So you're all proud to be white? I'm proud I'm ukrainian. Not white. If you think you're "white" then you already missed the fucking point.
Well you have to ask yourself what it means to be American. American culture is not as distinct as Japanese, German, Nigerian, etc. People say I'm American but what do people actually associate with American culture? When was the last time you saw a minorities say I'm American? The only people who really say it are whites who lean right. When a white person says I'm American minorities don't feel that person is including minorities in that statement. Saying I'm an American is another way for whites to say I'm proud to be white without directly saying it.
^ That’s ridiculous! I am a proud American and I’m Hispanic.
It's funny because white people created and/or signed off on it. Sounds like a liberal with saviour complex made it versus a minority
Out of fear being called a racist if they didn’t sign off. All it takes is one nimrod to suggest it then you have to support it.
Naah, for years minorities work in hostile corporate environments 100x more toxic than today. And there were no D&I initiatives. This type of training is because companies want to gain minority support because of the social climate but they certainly don't have to. If minorities had real pull we would not be pushing lip service virtue signaling trainings. We'd change c-suite and management to reflect ourselves because no one looks after you like your own. Again, this is liberal white pushing white guilt on conservative white and minorities take the fall.
I wonder would LinkedIn approve and offer a course to be less Black?
This not ok. Solving racism with more racism is not the answer. Imagine replacing the word white with a different skin color and reading this to yourself without cringing.
Isn't the Coca Cola company notorious for aggressively marketing their sugary swill to non-white developing countries and fueling an obesity epidemic in the process? Are they going to stop that? Also if you try to "fix" people by tearing people down instead of building empathy it looks like cult brainwashing.
Yea this is just identity politics. Doesn’t actually fix anything, just a facade to appear “woke”.
I'm Indian. I know we have our flaws but I'm proud to be Indian and of my identity. I simply couldnt respect anyone who was so embarrassed about their identity, they feel they have to bring down their entire race. Be proud of whoever the hell you are. All of our ancestors have done both great and terrible things. Do not apologize for something you didn't do. Wear your identity like an armor. And most importantly don't give an inch up to these woke idiots. They can emasculate themselves and take themselves out of the gene pool. Anybody here with white guilt or ancestral guilt or anything similarly stupid that you feel you have to emasculate yourself and your race? I'm genuinely interested in your thought process.
Proud to be Indian. I'm not embarrassed about being brown. I'm sure my ancestors have perpetrated atrocities. I will not apologize one bit for that. The people in the videos seem embarrassed about their identity and jump to the conclusion being white is inherently being racist. They should visit India. They'll be slapped 20 different ways before breakfast.
No. I do not believe in people with different skin colors are different. And I hate that the articles shared here somehow link the skin color white is somehow related to racism. Change the term white to black or Jewish or Hispanic in any of the articles and would it be racist? If yes, then it is just as racist to use white. If not, then everyone should undergo the same training with the term white replaced with their own ethnicity.
This is peak identity politics
Not even close. Peak identity politics is teaching Whites/Asians/whomever to load themselves onto trains and walk themselves into gas chambers due to their privilege.
"Teaching"? I think there are quite a few steps after the "teaching" stage, I think the current situation in the SAR is somehow approaching the peak.
