Yeah I guess I’ll pass 😂 Barely been a couple of months since they laid off a bunch of folks, and they’re already looking for new scapegoats to axe.
You think every other company that conducted layoffs isn’t also hiring and doing stuff like this?
I’d factor that risk into my requirements for salary. Look your company has been pretty unstable in the last few years, this premium on the market rate should account for that. Maybe if this became the norm they’d consider that in the decision. Like “ you know… if we mass layoff people, they’re not going to want to work here”… if that thought could be on several executives mind next time, that would be good.
"Thanks for your consideration, we're moving on to other candidates now" Not that you can't try, but that probably isn't cutting it in this market.
I would ignore or delete the message. It’s not worth any amount of money to work at Amazon, even as an intern. There are plenty of better companies to intern at, let alone work for. TC: 105K
If you can’t cut it, sure, better stay away
i bet you’d jump for joy if you got an offer from Amazon
Nothing can beat this
CTO of Microsoft maps to Amazon SDE 2, yes.
Well noone uses Microsoft maps.. he should be glad he is getting calls in this market
Why is that a thing? The tax savings must be insane for Amazon to offer that
Who is leaving the military to join Amazon anyways unless they’re speed running ptsd
I am wondering if I can hook these recruiters to chatGPT and instruct it to pretend to be me, including generating a fake resume that matches whatever job description they pass. Nothing beats losing the time of a spammer.
This. I report there number and email as spams
why do they fire and then hire? Is it some kind of a salary reduction strategy? And is tech going on a salary reset in near future?
That’s how managers get better performance reviews. Directors pressure managers to fire people to raise the bar, so managers need to hire to fire
They have to fire mandatory 6% people no matter what. Most orgs hire with intention to fire to meet the numbers.
Reached out to me as well. They do random rounds and disappear. Try to pitch you a much lower job grade then say Amazon standards are highest in the industry. One even told me SSE in Amazon is above Staff in most companies. Strange stuff.
Yeah, that recruiter pulling crap out of nowhere. Definitely not above Staff. A portion of Sr SDE covers the starting range of Staff at other places, but the majority of it falls in Principal SDE.
Ive worked about a half dozen or so places including Amazon, currently a staff at Riot. Recruiter is not totally wrong, some L6s have more scope / impact than Staffs at LI. Staffs at Riot are basically L6 at Amazon, some are L7 level, most somewhere in between. L6 being higher than "most" companies is the outta pocket part.
Bring him to me, I search an internship 🤣
They want you back. Just at a lower level and lower tc
I’ve been reached out to by Amazon recruiters and I’m employed at Amazon. They don’t give two shits. When I kindly remind them that I’m employed with Amazon and I don’t want an ‘amazing summer opportunity’ or whatever they are peddling, I’ve actually gotten rude responses. Like seriously? Oh and I’m L6, you’d think they would not reach out to people who have Amazon clearly listed as their current employer on LinkedIn.
Why? Poaching is pretty big at Amazon. You'd think an L6 would know this.
I’ve been reached out to for L4 or internship roles. I’m an L6, it’s them being bad at their jobs.
