I got an offer with Nike , and I Am moving to Beaverton,OR and realised they have high state tax (8.5%) So In order to avoid state tax can I do like this ? my work location is in Beaverton,OR But I am planning to stay in Vancouver ,WA And travel to office everyday (It’s just 20 miles to Beaverton from Vancouver ) #nike ( I am on h1b visa ) Tc-160k Yoe-4 #tech #nike #portland
I don’t think WA has a reciprocal tax treaty with OR (unlike NY/NJ), so you’ll be taxed. do your own research or consult a tax specialist on this.
Ya sure 👍
Move to California. No taxes here
Not even in metaverse 😂
Sometimes I wonder if I have to actually start giving more than I make in taxes.
You’re living in Wa Right If you commute you’re taxed from Wa
There is no income tax in WA, but OR taxes apply.
there are 2 income taxes in WA. it’s small but not 0
100% you’ll still be hit with oregon tax, and the commute from Vancouver to Beaverton will be miserable.
👍
No
No, you will still pay tax in OR. Only way to avoid it would be to WFH in WA. Also, a commute from Vancouver to Beaverton would be hell.
I agree, especially the traffic on 26 near the tunnel during peak hours 🤣
You’ll still pay Oregon taxes. You get taxed for the state in which your employer is, unless it’s a remote position. Oh and also, welcome to Beaverton!! It’s a very beautiful city. HMU if you wanna know more about this place, been here since last year 😊
Ya sure .. thank you
What about property taxes ? Are they higher on Vancouver side ?
On the bright side, no sales tax in OR so it’s not all bad.
Ya but . State tax is 8% and Sales tax is 0 .. but hardly we do purchase of 1000$ per month and it saves 100$ only
