Does anyone have experience working for Nike as a contractor? I’d be a W2 under an agency working with Nike. Current TC: $150k Offer TC @ 40 hrs/week: $180k/yr and remote I’m looking for a remote position so not sure whether contracting is worth the risk in this economy or if I should continue to LC until a FAANG FTE offer. #nike
I didnt like it when i was a Nike contractor. This was when we were still in the large campus in Beaverton (world HQ) - just felt like a second class citizen all the time. You compete with your coworkers for a full time position if thats your goal. Im sure you got the skills, its still a shitty feeling.
Thanks for the tips. I’m not really planning to convert to FTE. How was the WLB? I just want spare energy to LC
The wlb was pretty good - clocked in, clocked out and youre done. No on-calls, no late nights. Person above nailed it. Its not a tech company but really tries to be one. Tech stack is super dated and its hard to get things going because of all the "well, its always been done that way" attitude
You will get time to do LC at nike. Look for FTE outside nike. Also nikes contract is valid for 1 year. Please check if that is still same in your org.
Nike wants an answer ASAP otherwise I’d just apply as a FTE. Think it’s a red flag? I have a few other FTE roles I’m interviewing for but don’t want to lose this relatively high offer.
