Hard to answer without info on how you value WLB. CK is the “obvious” choice from a money perspective, and Charlotte is a low key solid city to live in, especially if you like finance/fintech. But I would imagine your WLB is a lot worse at CK.
Right now at nike the wlb is worse and I am ok with moving on like that for now.
WLB is pretty team dependent. It’s been trending in the wrong direction for the past year, but I wouldn’t consider it too bad just yet.
CK best offer imo, just remember that they are very strict with RTO 3 days a week.
Right now Nike has 4 days strict RTO
Be careful with CK. Your experience can differ greatly depending on the team. The tooling and tech environment isn’t good.
It is platform infrastructure engineering team. How is that team doing?
There isn’t much of a platform at ck. Things tend to be built for a single use case. Therefore you’re not going to see a platform that looks like anything built at tech or nontech companies over the last decade. Everything tends to be intertwined with everything else due to previous decisions. You will often see nontechnical leadership making technical decisions eg, around breaking api changes.
Did u get a sr position from credit karma?
Yes. Is there a room for negotiation related to sign on bonus?
Probably difficult under current job market. But nothing to lose to negotiate. CK refresh is very generous btw
As an ex-Credit Karma employee, I would definitely suggest Credit Karma. I’ve worked in 2 other companies since and nothing compares to Credit Karma in terms of work life balance. The quality of work there was also great and I made significant impact. You get Intuit stocks which are relatively stable and have good returns Refreshers are pretty great so every year you get significant increase in your TC just from the increase in RSU. Charlotte is a decent city, bunch of banks and fintechs there. Cheaper than the west coast.
Thanks this is super helpful.
I am in ck and I know the team you have an offer. DM me if you need any specifics on that team. Overall ck is a good place but Charlotte is the only downside. It is too boring. If you decide to switch again from CK few years down the lane, there is barely any similar companies in CLT. You will have to move to west coast again. Keep that in mind
CK is the best offer. CLT is boring a bit like others mentioned , but the office is great and company is good other than strict RTO
didn’t know geico pays that much
The RSU seems low for CK. Double confirm with the recruiter?
Yeah could be better.. Prob can add like 40-50k at least
Sure will negotiate further.
Take Credit Karma and buy a new house in NC. Don't sell your Portland place though. Keep both and enjoy your life with your family.
Thanks. This is a great suggestion.
Good luck bro
