How do you think non-Amazon recruiters would react to seeing “No Amazon Opportunities Please” in my LinkedIn bio line? Legitimately considering this as I’ve gotten messages from 4 different Amazon recruiters lately, have heard nothing but bad things about working there. I hate Bezos, all he has created, and all he represents. The culture seems awful. The business practices disgusting. Everyone here from there complains about it. Same with everyone I know personally. Treatment of warehouse and delivery workers is deplorable. Just fuck that place 7 different ways. Thoughts? TC 195k 4YE in Product
You’d just keep getting the Amazon spam because most things you get on LinkedIn are spam based on a search and not recruiters who even look at your profile.
Check out deez nuts
Lol did I offend you?
> I hate Bezos, all he has created, and all he represents And what exactly does he represent since you know so well?
It’s my own subjective view on his actions and I won’t be defending it here
^ oof
Seems petty and unnecessary. Comes across like you're more interested in parading your anti-amazon sentiment than reducing spam messages. Does it really cost you much to just delete those 4 emails you got from Amazon?
I actually am interested in parading my anti-Amazon sentiment. And I wish more people would actively do so. I’m just not willing to risk my career for it due to selfish reasons.
Personally I'm in AWS and find it super chill, manager targeting L6 for me for next year and I do less than 20 hours a week at my best. Been here 5 years, lot of horror stories on blind but if you make it past the first year it's easy, generally I think there are far better places to work, but many, many far worse places. Not worth denylisting them as a company when your TC and yoe aren't even that high yet. To be clear, not defending the URA quota, that's terrible and other companies policies that have similar cutthroat styles like Netflix pay a lot better and hire a lot less. So that deserves blame, but I also think odds are in your favor to not be in the bottom 6%-15%
Ty for your perspective, I really do appreciate it. Glad you found this promise land of low work hours & (presumably) high pay!
Blacklists are useful for spammy/sketchy ip ranges, likely useful for sketchy companies (Tesla, Amazon, Apple, Walmart, etc…. maybe a white list is better lol). Better if there were a Blind Whitelist, would have more influence.
I would love a scoring system based on TC potential & social impact. I want to optimize in this way but it isn’t easy to sort thru all the bullshit.
Whether you like Amazon or not. Amazon is one of the reasons why so many people have profited , made money and lives of people. If Amazon had not revolutionized e-commerce then we would have not access to a lot of convenience. Every for profit corporation will have some problems. Bigger the company , bigger the problems and they will be in the radar of others because they got so big.
Fair points here. I guess I just dream of innovation and progress with less exploitation. 🤷🏻♂️
Even if you are truly knowledgeable about Amazon and have the first hand reasons (not just based on Blind) to hate it, posting this on your profile will make it easier for recruiters and hiring managers to reject you. This is because you will appear bitter, presumptuous and cocky.
This is my fear tbh. Part of me thinks it could be polarizing in a good way tho? Like maybe I’d get into some interesting conversations/opportunities with those who have similar views and respect the bluntness. Probably too optimistic tho…
I think I’d rather be homeless than work at Amazon. That’s not an exaggeration. Good idea, OP!
Hahaha I feel the same way! Even rented a van for a while to try it out lol
I understand your feeling. But recruiters and people who work there are not bad people. Taking such a high ground, you come off as cocky and rude to others imo. You can always ignore or politely decline. And trust me, you never know you might be in Amazon one day.
Agreed. Just click the "Decline without a message" and be done with it. Anything vitriolic will be seen as arrogant and immature.
Never understood why they won’t just ignore the messages. The fuck are they having some kind of ego stroke by getting reached out by Amazon?
