Realtime update. - Bonus reduction, something around 60%. - Aggressive bonus allocation based on your manager's criteria. If you bust your ass you might get an 80% of that 60%... - Hiring freeze. - Salary increases freeze. - Final destination of Red Hat at the end, to disappear... So far so good!
Yikes
All those are better then not having jobs
+1
What is aggressive allocation ?
Aggressive work/projects assignment!
That's usually a sign of pre layoff
Honestly, I’d personally take these odds over losing my job. Especially in this economy.
How is it fair for IBM? Parent company looses talent to save their minor subsidiary? Makes no sense. Not that I wish any lay offs on RH folks but IBM shouldn’t be taking all the blows.
RH operates independently outside of IBM. Leadership, hiring practice, wlb, pay, etc we’re completely untouched with the acquisition. However I hear that’s slowly changing though
not hear, see...
I don't really trust any of the CEO, CFO, COO, or the CTO, I just hear violins about how bad things are, how many billions we are making but it is just not enough, and how the associates need to save money be focused, but they still make $$$$$.
Ok but how are people at red hat paid compared to the rest of the industry ?
I think generally a bit less compared to other tech
I think the most concerning thing is perhaps not the cut in bonuses, but in the greater emphasis on performance and differentiation (effectively stack ranking). Management are taking about this with respect to bonuses, but that can easily be extended to staff cuts. In previous downturns at other companies, this type of thing was usually done without telling employees (though word of mouth spread), and was a precursor to layoffs. Every major tech company seems to be doing this at the moment…
agreed. I don’t mind a cut in bonuses during economic uncertainty, but the stack ranking is what worries me. They will now rank you against your peers and quantitively number you going forward. I know this is common is big tech but you can already see the change in red hat culture slowly
+1 samee
Would still join redhat for its culture. anyone hiring please dm,willing to take a pay cut.
Wtf is salary freeze?
No increases. Salary disappears with inflation
Appraisal freeze. Got it. I thought red hat stopped paying salary to the employees.
