No dynamic programming in FB interviews?

FB recruiter sent an interview preparation guide for ML engineer role which specifically says “There is no need to learn dynamic programming or ‘memorization’” Can someone from FB confirm this? Recruiter said follow the guide. Current TC: 250k Level: 64 at MSFT

Then that’s what they’re gonna ask you.

Microsoft HqVR15 Dec 7, 2020

Shit test,

ServiceNow gnFp82 Dec 7, 2020

Btw the word is memoization

Microsoft CWE Dec 7, 2020

I think that’s why ‘memorization’ is in quotes.

Oracle s@chislife Dec 7, 2020

Memorization leads to memorizations for many I guess :p

Oracle s@chislife Dec 7, 2020

BS. Got DP in a phone screen recently

Esri klokov_v3 Dec 7, 2020

Probably for SWE, they might not be asking that for ML because they’ll be testing candidates on other things except algos and system design.

Oracle s@chislife Dec 7, 2020

I was interviewing for swe and even my recruiter said no DP which was such a BS Leetcode top freq FB tagged questions have many DP problems. Again, it's all luck. But why provide false information?

Facebook nrx6o3jy Dec 7, 2020

I don’t know anything about that. But if an fb recruiter handed you something that says “don’t study ____ for your interview”, then I would take it as a sign that you do not need to study whatever that thing is, call it a hunch lol

Oracle s@chislife Dec 7, 2020

Nope, don't listen to this guy If he interviews you he will ask DP Recruiters don't know shit

Facebook M Zucker Dec 7, 2020

@Oracle Probably at Oracle, not FB. Our receuiters are upfront with interviews

Facebook impaccted Dec 7, 2020

Can confirm, you can still get someone who didn’t get the memo though

Facebook M Zucker Dec 7, 2020

Your recruiter is your best guide while interviewing at FB

That’s a sign that you need to solve all dp questions

Dell vaw-: Dec 7, 2020

If your recruiter said no DP q and still u get asked DP then reach back to your recruiter

Microsoft pq727dn Dec 7, 2020

I interviewed at many many well known places and the ONLY company who asked a DP problem was Bloomberg. Pretty weird that DP is so relevant in leetcode but not in interviews. IME trees, graphs and array problems are the most asked.

Oracle s@chislife Dec 7, 2020

It's very common in Google and FB and many other companies Recently I was asked at lyft. So DP is not uncommon in top tier companies

Tekion dudeinboot Dec 8, 2020

Looks like you have great luck! DP asked in many places
