Alexa is profit less device, Amazon selling Alexa devices for below margin.
Those in operations are probably safe. Amazon’s facilities cannot function without the ops managers, HR, etc.
They'd reduce them. And they can do without HR
HR at Amazon is a joke. Good riddance.
Hardly a surprise, the WSJ article had already mentioned the Alexa team as the primary target
Does Alexa org have enough 10k of people?
They have 12k
“Alexa, layoff 10k of our workers pls”
Sorry, I don’t know that one.
"Sorry I didn't quite catch that. Did you mean buy on Amazon worth 10K?"
All because off over hire and inflated salary.. 2008 all techs laid off.. only Amz hires.. I know one big team laid off in MSFT and joined AMZ no interview.. just switch chairs..
There were not large scale tech layoffs in 2008
How bad is this current recession until now ? Is it worse than 2020 ? What about 2008 ?
It's not recession. It's super inflation. If you don't understand difference, you will keep making mistakes. The goal here is to reduce over employment and inflation rate. So this is just fat trimming.
Ok I don’t understand and I should be ashamed. But can you tell me from a job search and security perspective, is it worse than 2020 or 2008 ? I haven’t switched jobs in 2020 but trying now with no luck yet
If Alexa is looking at cuts, what about the unprofitable subdivisions like Amazon Photos?
