I need some help in understanding if it makes sense to move to Finland from India. I dont have an offer/TC yet from Nokia. How is the work life/culture etc in finland and what would be a good TC to take a call. Also, if I move can I apply across Europe after certain time? say Apple or other companies in Germany. Current TC 60LPA Yoe 10 Domain Hardware SOC #Finland #Nokia
How on earth ur TC is peanut?
I feel nokia can be a good stepping stone for EU, they always seem to have open positions for asic/soc, I'll try applying after getting some experience here(just started out). Please update if you ever go through with the interviews, not many posts regarding nokia finland here.
Sure, will let you know how things go
I have one of my friend moved to Nokia,Finland. His TC is € 80k. Although savings is less compared to india but overall quality of life is good( if you are fine with long winters and cold)
How did you get offer from Nokia,Finland?? How did you apply??
Applied on their website
@Peanut_TC I also got an offer from Oulu, Finland in SOC development team. I’m thinking whether to pursue or not. TC 64k + variable bonus = 72k € They said that based on performance in technical interview, it can go up to 84k € Any suggestions or insights from your friend who is already in Nokia would be helpful.
I think Finland should be good or any other Scandinavian country. Only downside is that winters will have shorter daylight but that is something one wouldn’t worry about if they are moving from India. The quality of life would be lot better and a lot of things/places to see in Europe in general. Personally, I would recommend Netherlands over Germany (in terms of absolutely no bias towards foreigners.) for longer term. Cost of living is much less in Germany and you save more money there. However, Dutch people are most friendly people I came across. Dutch take wlb much seriously than any country I have ever been to.
Thank you, Most of the HW companies are in Germany in Europe, so wanted to know if moving within Europe is easy in future. If any expected TC suggestions please share
I have no experience about TC for experienced candidates in Europe. One thing I know is that Switzerland comes close to US in terms of TC in Europe. However, I can guarantee, unless you do not work in a multinational company, your promotions/hikes are going to be pretty stagnant in Germany. Source: lived a good deal of time in the countries I discussed.
