I’m aware the vast majority of people on Blind are SWE and other employees in technical roles. But I wanted to hear from others that are in Customer Success (like me) and what their experience is like across the spectrum, especially FAANG. Also would love to hear stories of anyone who’s gone from a non #tech to technical role successfully. Seeing the TC and competitiveness of engineer/tech roles on here has really encouraged me to rethink my path, if it’s feasible.

Have you considered moving from CSM -> TAM?
Once before. When I was at my last org. But covid layoffs f*d up my plan for that. I’ve interviewed for TAM roles two times since. It’s a solid route and may perhaps be a good thing to consider.
I think you should! It’s pretty viable given your understanding of customer relationships and business perspectives, the technical skills vary from company but generally speaking it’s a good way to build your tech knowledge + understanding the technical aspects of the product you’re supporting. After that you could jump into product since you’ll understand the ins and outs of the product as well as pain points from the customer, if that’s something you’re interested in.
