Which company should i choose? Still have G and MSFT on-sites coming in December but not super confidant on those, and I can't hold the deadline for Nordstrom or T-Mobile for long enough. If i get an offer from G or MSFT then I will rescind on whichever I accept now. My plan is to stay around for a year or two at whichever I accept now to get move out of my current role at Chase. If I like the role I end up accepting then maybe I'll stick around for longer. And yes I know the TC (esp in RSUs) is peanuts compared to some big techs in Seattle. Nordstorm (E2) 140k base 10k sign-on 20% target bonus T-Mobile (not entry or senior, whatever the title is) 147k base (up from 140 initial) 10 sign-on (up from 0 sign on) $10k RSUs 3yr vesting, 3.3-3.3-3.3 15% target bonus Seattle, 2YOE Edit: "Seattle" poll option == Nordstorm, you get the idea. Edit-edit: would be nice if its 10k units huh
T-Mobile for a nice coast to a mediocre retirement in your 60’s
How were the interviews at tmobile?
easy interviews, 1h behavioral and almost 2hrs "paired" coding assessment
Leetcode style coding questions?
Is that 1.1M worth of stock over 3 years?
10k $
So just 10k per year? What’s your location and experience
I’m not sure how the tech stack is at T-Mobile, but the tech stack at Nordstrom is pretty cutting edge. If you want to work with relevant technologies that’ll help you on the long run, then Nordstrom is the way to go. In addition, the WLB is amazing here. Can someone explain why T-Mobile is the better choice here?
Super chill and wlb is awesome at tmobile. I worked 10hrs/week and begged Sr engineers to give me something to do
@Microsoft you worked at Tmibile?
How the first screening round for Nordstorm look like ?
i interviewed with a director and a manager together during the initial phone screen, 45 minutes. first 15-25ish minutes revolved around introductions, team descriptions, background then the rest of the time on coderpad. the vibe was pretty relaxed and conversational. director squeezed in a bunch of behavioral questions well after the 45 minutes mark.
I worked at tmobile before. I worked like 10hrs per week.
thats the goal! then hopefully i can find a role in msft or google some years down the line to semi-vest and rest.
Yup. Mostly of my teammates were 40 50+ years old
Wow 147k base for Software Engineer role(L8) here at tmo is just insane…Congrats on the offers! I am in the same role but I make a lot less base. Honestly I don’t think any sr engineers in my team have a higher base than you. I really need to leetcode harder lol
How is the WLB? How challenging/stressful is your work?
Good WLB. For me it’s around 25hrs/week, more during oncall weeks. I’d say there’s not much challenges/stresses in the work itself, rather it’s the outlook of career growth.
Between Nordstrom and T-Mobile - go with Tmo. Ask for sign on at T-Mobile.
I'm inclined to go Tmo too. Do y'all offer sign on? I thought it was weird there wasn't any in my offer
Was able to negotiate for a 10k sign on, thanks for the suggestion!
