Got software engineering internship offers from Northrop Grumman and a small startup (3 people) and am unsure which I should take. Goal of the internship would be to help me secure FAANG interviews in the future, as I applied this year but couldn’t get an OA or interview. Go to UPenn and am a first year student if that helps add context.
I’d pick the startup. I worked for two startups in first internship and first full time role and now I’ll be joining amazon. Yoe < 1
Interned at two startups before going to Databricks (which is also a startup haha). Definitely echo comments you’ll learn more there

'Hindutva': The Radical Hindu Ideology That Seeks to 'Push Christianity Out of India’
Most government contractors are crap. The tech they use is really old. You won’t learn anything.
I definitely think I’d learn more at the startup, but I’m mainly concerned about which would help more with getting interviews at tech companies. I know Northrop isn’t the best company, but I figure hiring managers would at least know what it is, whereas they wouldn’t with the startup.
If you’re at upen and get decent grades you will be able to get interviews at FAANG in future years. It’s just a lot harder as a Freshman since most companies focus on Sophomores and Juniors since the goal is to get people to accept full time roles and it’s hard to get someone coming back for internships year after year
