How is Northwestern Mutual as a company for Software engineers? What is work culture? Is it a safe company to join in economic downturn time?
Very stable environment with some reorgs that layoff a small amount of people occasionally. Pay is okay, best if you're in Milwaukee, worst if you're in New York. Work is definitely boring but coworkers are mostly nice. Definitely a "woke" environment if that appeals or does not appeal to you.
How is the WLB? Is Laid back culture or fast paced work environment?
Very laid back but sometimes you might have on call or deployment duties depending on your team and role.
Work is boring. I'm sure other orgs are more stimulating though. Pay is good for Milwaukee, coworkers are nice. Big meeting and corporate culture here, currently only in office 1 day per week. Tech stack is modern and work seems stable

QVC - can I dm you? I have an interview coming up with them
Yes
It's an insurance company. The work will be boring, you won't be paid that much for it, but you'll have a job
