Is it weird or suspect not to have a LinkedIn? I’ve been wanting to close mine after starting a new job. Several reasons include finding it annoying, not seeking a new job, and sometimes old acquaintances hitting me up for a referral or asking to be connected with someone in my network (both of whom I barely know). Will my new employers and co workers find this odd? Is this career suicide?
It matters to the people who cares.
I closed mine once and no one cared!
No linkedin, No FB, No Twitter.. Only Blind.
Almost there. Just one left.
Depends on what you want. LinkedIn just makes hiring, recruiting and networking easier and frictionless. If you find all of those valuable, then keep it. Some people also find some value in paying it forward. If you don't find the above valuable, then close it. Or close it if you find them valuable but still have a better way to do those.
Wait…why would it matter to your employer if you don’t have LinkedIn? It’s your personal choice. Yes it’s great for networking and job hunting and you can always enable it later but it’s totally your choice!!!
Depends if you want to be contacted by recruiters. I know many accomplished people without linkedin. They just don’t care.
I don’t get why you want to close it? You could disable email notifications and then it would basically be closed.
It depends on where you are in your career and who knows you. Think harder.
It's not career suicide but you'll definitely miss out on career opportunities.
Can't you disable it and then reenable it later?
