Contract SWE through K2

Hey everyone , have an onsite at a company this week in Austin. Its a contract role until june with potential contract to hire. Never done contract work before and wanted insight. The company is K2(contract) with a well know tech company. When they say there is a maximum hourly pay, is that non negotiable ? Secondly, how likely is converting to FTE from contract ?
