Nvidia level mapping from software companies?

Got reached out by a recruiter on a potential opportunity that sounds very interesting at Nvidia but I don’t know software people who work there. What level should I expect? I’m currently L6 (staff SWE) with 6yoe. Should I expect IC6? Anything below that wouldn’t seem to be competitive enough comp wise. Current TC is 600-800k but mostly paper money. I can get other offers with real money at 550-650k in software. Levels.fyi seems to indicate that my current level is equivalent to IC6 there but my YoE is much lower than any principal I heard about at Nvidia. #nvidia

I heard it is rare to get an offer at IC6. They prefer to promote to that level from within, according to my friend at Nvidia. I’m in the same boat in terms of TC and I recently was reached out by Nvidia as well. I just didn’t feel like going through the motion to land an IC5 offer that doesn’t improve my TC in the best case outcome.

6 YOE, you are lucky to have IC4

This would be like down-leveling by 2 levels and with half the comp

You mentioned paper money, how to calculate. Trust me, Nvidia will not give IC6 externally unless they need to to fill in a important niche, and you are have excellent track of record. Those two conditions are hard to met simultaneously.

Ic7 at least, but push for IC8 imho. You deserve it.

😂… yes with 6 year of experience he should be one other our less than 20 ic8s. Then with 7 years we can invent new levels for his ego. By 8 years he can be Jensen and by 9 years he can be our AI overlord. I assume he has a PhD so would be ic5.
