What do you folk think? Is it reasonable. Years of experience: 9 What's the average like in Nvidia ? Ofcourse this industry doesn't pay the crazy figures like Meta or Netflix #nvidia
Something is off . Is this IC2 ? For your experience , it must be IC4 minimum
That's what it is. Is what the recruiter said. They are not hiring at principal level right now. Only senior roles. And they apparently received 200+ applications for this on day 1. What's the pay level for system software engineer at senior level (atleast the starting range)? And BTW this is not the GPU group which is making all the money. It's the automotive group
So what ? If they recruited you, they need to match the IC level and corresponding level. Can you tell what IC level they offered ?
When you say “Systems software engineer”, do you mean operating systems/ kernel/ device driver role? If yes, this is an extremely low ball offer for 9YOE in VHCOL area.
Yes. But this after 1 round of negotiating. Too many people for too few jobs. And don't compare electronics industry with software industry. I've seen all the 600k, 500k offers my CS friends get at Meta, Google...
My IC4 (SW) offer at NVIDIA wasn't $500k, but that's about where it's at now after the AI hype train turned our stock price into a nuclear warhead 😄 My initial offer was $350k in a medium COL area (12 yoe at the time), although this was back when the market was red hot a couple years ago. It's definitely more of a "buyer's market" now with the layoffs en masse. Still, the offer does seem a bit low, especially in big $$ CA.
Holy guacamole low ball. Walk away if you have a better offer. 9 YOE should be IC4 300k+ in Bay Area.
Trash. They forgot an extra 150k in the TC wtf The equity is disrespectful.
Fck this recruiter.. the offer is insulting
This is bizarre, idk how they’re even offering ic3 for 9+ yoe and that too a lowball ic3 offer
Maybe the OP didn’t do great at the interview. I’ve seen people with many years of experience who haven’t grown for whatever reasons. For example, the company they work at is still using mainframes and DOS. This is their only ticket to get back into modern times and maybe OP has potential but no actual experience yet in the technology or stacks that we use.
Something is off . How was your interview?
Fresh grad ?
Why is nvidia offer so low? I expected better for senior role with 9 year experience
