I have an offer from Walt Disney Imagineering for a little less pay and much less flexibility, no working from home, limited vacations. On the other hand you get to work on great and creative projects and get wonderful perks. Should i consider it or follow the money ? TC: 400k
Do you like working at nvidia? If your work doesn’t make you suffer I wouldn’t leave. If it is mind numbing and you want a change, then do it
Is it actually better than Nvidia? Parts of Nvidia research make some cool things. There's also a big difference between a company that is tech to the core vs a company like Disney that is business and artist driven.
Walt Disney FTW...Nvidia is garbage
How's Nvidia garbage? It innovates better than apple.
😂 Make a poll otherwise I don't agree apple.
Comments say Disney, Poll says Nvidia :D
So we are just making up words now ! This is Barney Stinson phase of the recession
Disney pays even close to 400k?
Yeah, I can’t imagine that! WDI usually pays peanuts.
WDI is not bad but also we are pretty unstable here at Disney right now. Two things you should ask the recruiter or team before accepting are: 1. How does the layoff situation impact this role? (7k layoffs announced but still no context was given around them) 2. The relocation to Florida. This was announced awhile ago but dunno what this situation is
Thanks ! I actually asked both questions. Looks like Florida is happening, shouldnt have impact on offer though and i have no problems with it. As i was told, Imagineering is fairly stable in terms of layoffs and such
@Disney: Can you give me a referral? Found a matching opportunity there.
WDI is good, i worked there previously in WDI research. You can work on out of the box work which you might get hands on at Nvidia. Also WDI watches Headcounts and costs. I don’t remember any layoffs, but you get pension from Disney if you retire from it.
For me, WDI is a dream job. After working at Disney off and on for years, it’s common to see people leave and come back. If you hate it, you could just as easily leave and go back to NVIDIA or elsewhere. Even just having Disney on your resume is well worth taking the risk if the finances work out, imo.
I would strongly recommend going for the job if the money and flexibility is not a mandatory thing for you.
