True, SoFi can result in a bigger bump in TC in coming future.
I am a little concerned if Software engineers will end up being a third class citizen within a Finance company
Stripe, robinhood, square, coinbase are all fintech we dont see them as third class citizen
I agree. Any idea on SoFi as a company or employer?
Op search up sofi stock vs oracle stock growth on tiprank and other stock analysis sites. Oracle is stagnant or leaning towards negative growth while sofi is expected to grow 25%+ or more over 12 months. I think adding oracle brand name on your resume has no value. Most people consider it as a tech dinosaur company. Aws and azure is already dominating the cloud business. I’ve worked at OCI and its a mess there. They chunked multiple services in a single repo and it takes 30min+ to build…. Sofi is actually an industry leader in their field. For both short/long term sofi is a much better choice
Oracle stock is “stagnant or leaning towards negative growth?” Where exactly did you get this one from? You do see that this year, Oracle stock is up nearly 60%, in fact MSFT is only up 42% 😉 Second point regarding AWS/Azure dominating the market. That is true, but two things to consider. First, a company doesn’t need to be the leading player in a space to make money. Cloud is a huge business, oracle doesn’t need to necessarily beat AWS/Azure, they just need a piece of the pie. Second point, multi cloud is becoming more and more common. This helps smaller players like OCI/GCP, etc as companies are moving away from just using one cloud
Not sure why you are comparing msft stock to oracles in this discussion. Just google tip rank or seeking-alpha and see yourself. Easy way for stock noobs, just go to robinhood and see the analyst ratings. These are expert analysis from wall street. I know you are salty since I said some negative things about oracle but you cant deny the fact that OCI products are not great. I’ve experienced it myself when I worked there. The point is, why go to oracle when you can work on an industry leading fintech product which has a hyper growth potential?
Congratulations OP. Could you please share base,RSU’s and joining bonus for both sofi and OCI. People said 1 year back the same that Oracle is stagnant, but their stock grew 45% ytd.
Sofi went from a $10 dollar spac just a few months ago to current $20. If you do any stock analysis, theres no question sofi will come out top
SoFi- 212k + 425k/4 RSU + 15% yearly bonus + 10k sign on bonus TC: 352K (per year for first 4 years, sign on bonus divided by 4)
Lol 😂 2 percent market share for OCI. Too small of a pie?
Larger then MSFT 🥜 TC ;)
Okay kid👌 you win! hope that makes you feel better 😝
Sofi is now profitable and at positive ebitda unlike most unicorns. It will only climb upwards 🚀 This is where you want to be OP
Go with SoFi. One of the few companies I've bought a stake in. When you get there start secretly working on options trading.
OCI is growing well. Staff engineers get decent WLB In OCI. Depends from team to team, overlay services and services in development get good growth opportunities and decent WLB. Some teams can get oncall or ops heavy, better talk to HM and figure it out, it's not too bad like people claim it is on blind. OCI brand name do get a lot of FAANG calls atleast for me and the other folks that I talked to.
Life will be very different on an overlay team tier-0 or tier-1 team. WLB is shit on any core team, with lots of politics / in fighting. We do get better comp increases / promotions though. Strong engineers can go to from IC3-IC5 in 3-4 years on core teams, so long as you can tolerate a ton of bullshit.
Does OCI have a "pip" culture? Also, do you guys often see a lot of headcount reduction, layoffs etc?
What org/team is the offer for in OCI?
Sofi > OCI stocks will appreciate more over the years. OCI 2% marketshare…
Got it. Any idea on WLB for both?
Oci WLB is just terrible I have heard.
