HPE vs Amazon

I’m currently working in HPE and I have SDE (new grad) offer at Amazon in 3 months. HPE has amazing people and great work life balance. While I hear lot of horror stories at amazon, Should I really consider joining Amazon? If possible, please add a comment why you think it is better.

If no visa issues, go to amazon. HPE is barely a SW company. Worst case you get PIP’d and u can come back to HPE

But the team must be willing to take me back to HPE right? As the market situation is worst, I’m worried if I get pip’d, will I be able to get into other good companies.

Don’t burn bridges. Your call- you can wait till the market improves and jump then - if Nothing is certain. Maybe work in parallel to see 😄 take 1 month vacation from HPE

Join Amazon, i left HPE too. There is a major shift in culture but you learn things here at Amazon at 10x. HPE will take you back after Amazon on your resume. It will be challenging here but worth it especially when you are new grad and long way to go. Amazon will train you well for any other company later on. That’s my opinion

The Amazon slander is too damn high on Blind. The answer is Amazon any day of the week. Only about 10 companies in the industry should be selected over Amazon (other FAANG and a couple of unicorns)

I’d love to join Amazon but how to avoid PIP and toxic managers ? Any inputs would be appreciated

I can’t speak too much on the PIP but it’s usually the PIPed ones who talk the loudest so I feel it’s worth the chance for those who have yet to break into a big tech firm

The work life balance at HPE is amazing. Besides that, there’s zero innovation and the company is hanging on to revenue from legacy tech by a thread. Unfortunately they are doing RTO. So confirm you are hired as teleworker.

I was hired as a teleworker. Yeah, the main reason I want to stay in HPE is work life balance, but not sure about the growth.

Zero growth. You’ll have to fight tooth and nail for a promotion.

If you are in your 20s or early 30s, just go with Amazon. If you are into 40s and seek stability due to family, kids etc that would be a different case. Still I would say Amazon.
