Having offers from both with similar TC (~250k) and both are for senior position (64 for MS). Both are cloud. Looking for opinions on both about culture, career growth and potential TC growth in the next 4 years. Yoe: 5 Location: Seattle
OCI. You will be building something. A lot of challenges. Could become underdog to success story Could go to crap but who cares. You are mobile and already have an exit strategy at 2-4 years
If TC is similar then pick MS. Don’t forget 401k and other benefits that Oracle doesn’t provide. The “building something new” age has ended in OCI, innovation has slowed down.
Right have to weigh other perks and benefits. WLB is better at Oracle?
I would say WLB is pretty good, at least in my team
Ya. Unless OCI gives you 50% more, MS is better. OCI should have leveled you at Principal.
50% more is impossible...
I tried to negotiate the level, but it didn't work.
OCI principal member for 250k is low. Nego to 300+
It's not principal, it's senior
OCI level is a mess, it ain’t matter much. IC3 can easily earn more than IC4. 64 at MS should get you principal
64 for MS is really good considering the fact that your yoe is 5. I would go with MS.
Senior in OCI maps to SDE2 at msft. And OCI is bleeding talent
It depends on what you are looking for. OCI has more opportunities if you are in the right team. MS is more relax even in most Azure teams. Promotion to IC4 in OCI should be easier compared to 64->65 in MS.
MS
Take the MS offer
Why? I'm looking for reasons
It’s Oracle. That’s your reason.
