How is the culture in OCI(Oracle Cloud) Bay Area? Which teams are operating here? TC:140K
Culture is heavily team dependent, and even manager dependent at OCI. Hard to tell. You could get lucky and get a great manager, or you could get fucked.
Teams are object storage, load balancer, network monitoring and some more.
Thanks for the info. How is monitoring team?
Gr8 experience so far. Compensation is awesome
Nice! Which team are you in if you dont mind?
It’s a group in California
Isn’t oracle’s entire cloud infrastructure org in Seattle?
No, bay area, seattle, denver... its all over
Seattle is the HQ for OCI. OCI has a ‘Hub and Satellite’ strategy. Investment is mainly in HQ and Hubs. Onboarding classes, more facilities investment and better offices, likely to be more people and teams. Hubs are in Santa Clara, Manchester, Dublin, Guadalajara and Singapore. Think everything else is a satellite. Wasn’t aware anything was in Denver. Some hubs are solely focused on operations and won’t have development roles, others do both.
I’ve been with Oracle for almost 4 years and part of the OCI Inbound PM team. Love Oracle in general and culture as well. Great people. OCI is growing very rapidly and there are lots of opportunities and challenges for the ones who want to make a change and be part of our Cloud Gen 2 team. Recommend Oracle and OCI 100%.
Bay area is bad. Culture is better in Seattle
Can’t speak for Bay, but Seattle OCI culture is awesome. Great people, great work.
Nice! Thank you
In Seattle at least our team’s ops is heavy as f
