Hi, I got an offer from Analog Devices for Senior Design Verification engineer position in Dallas, Texas. Here is my compensation. Base :- 120k RSU :- 18k/ 4 years Sign on :- 20k Bonus: target 10%, 0.0x to 3.0x scale factor Can you let me know if it is low and how I should negotiate? #semiconductor
It depends on company. I have MSEE
Well why goto AD, Qualcomm is a slightly better company but probably worse wlb. Usually it is good to present a competing offer to neg. If you still at Qualcomm you can say you are highly valued at Q and got paid alot in line for promo. Then ask ad to raise the base some percentage.
I’m a contractor at Qualcomm & I’m getting laid off. So I’m going to AD
Seems to be a bit low. Try find some leverage to neg. Try finding a competing offer. Do not disclose you are laid off or show desperation, unless asked. HRs job is find ways to low ball you. You have 1 or max 2 chance to neg. so pick what is the most important to you usually the base.
If ADI can keep doing as well as they did in the last year, your bonus is gonna be around 30%. Sounds not bad in Dallas…
Hmm ok. What about RSU ?
I was offered 40k/4y for staff position.
Very low for senior position
Can you suggest what to negotiate ?
Negotiate RSU's..18k/4 is almost nothing.
If there is difference in geographies, that would be a big factor in TC difference
Don’t forget Q cover all insurance. ADI insurance is bad. If you have family, it costs like 6k per year which equals to 10k pre tax income
What education qualifications do one need for this kind job? BSEE?
