OPT/STEM OPT unemployment days
Asking for my brother. He had 65 days of unemployment on OPT. He is on STEM OPT right now and was layed off from Amazon(i know, again Amazon at his best) . How many more unemployment days does he have now. Is it 60 days or 85 days considering total employment on OPT and STEM OPT is 150 days. Please don’t guess. Vote only if you know for sure. I would really appreciate if someone can refer him
90 days for initial opt 60 days for Stem opt
The unemployment days add up from OPT and Stem ext. so you can have a total of 90+60= 150 days of unemployment. I was in a similar boat before so double checked with my university international student advisor.
So you mean he has 85 day instead of 60?
depends on it is the first year or not. if he already extended the OPT, then total 150, else 90. If he used up 65 days, then either 85 days left or 25 days left, no option as 60
This is his 2nd year. 3rd year starts in July. First year was 65 days. Nothing in second year.

Because he was solving twice the tickets in quota assigned as a cloud support engineer.
