I use stack overflow on a daily basis Well yes on a daily basis for my coding and scripting work and my side gigs github work before chatGPT came out. Now i usually chat with chatGPT on my technical ideas in a stoic question and answer manner. I know chatGPT sometimes give incorrect answers and makes up facts but the code suggestions chatGPT gives is much much better than stackoverflow. So this could be one of reason for stackoverflow, another business impacted by chatGPT and generative next gen AI.
Even Chegg lost a lot of money from ChatGPT
Chegg and Grammarly 🪦
Bunch of snobs on SO always made me nervous before posting a question.
Irony is chatgpt is trained with data from websites like stack-overflow. Now those websites are in trouble.
Some ahole always marks my questions as duplicate so I find the exercise futile.
love using chatgpt for random git operations
Stack overflow can get really hostile for new people.
I had one issue with code and tried to get a solution from Chat GPT but all of the output were incorrect . Finally SO did it for me
I use both, but I don’t post to Stackoverflow
Personally I prefer chatgpt because it gives immediate answers and doesn’t complain about duplicate questions or ask why I’d even want to do this.
Can you imagine: “As an AI language model, I can’t help you do something so stupid”.
“Did you even read the O’Reilly manual before asking this question? Don’t ask me to do your work for you”
