Has anyone obtained a Chase or American Express business credit card solely for the purpose of earning signup bonuses (SUBs) while holding an H1B visa? I have come across forum posts that claim this practice is not illegal, as one can claim to be a sole proprietor by stating they sell used items on Facebook Marketplace and estimate their revenue at $500-$1000. It is also possible to use one's own Social Security number as a Tax Identification Number. Some forum users have reported success in obtaining a Chase Ink Business credit card in this way for the sign-up bonuses. I am an H1B holder and I am worried about the potential impact on my visa status and green card work if I were to claim to be a business for the purpose of getting these signup bonuses. Could anyone who has experience with this issue please provide their insights?
There's a chance that rewards/referrals you earn on a biz card generates a 1099-k which may raise eyebrows come time for green card processing. Unless you've exhausted all personal card bonuses, try to wait till GC before digging in at the business buffet (it is as good as they say though, so I understand the impatience).
100K worth of extra points aren't worth jeopardizing your GC prospects. Just because it's working for few today doesn't mean it'll keep working for you and them tomorrow.
I am on h1 and have 5 business cards and 4 business checking accounts all for bonuses.
Chase ink are giving 90k points. No annual fee. You can get another one even if you have one.Let me know if you need a referral and i can share $100 on using my referral
