Oculus Research MPK
Considering an offer from Facebook, current comp @AAPL ICT4 7 years work ex, 175k base 20k bonus and total unvested RSU 374k (3/4 pipeline full) New Offer E5 , 180k base 40k joining bonus, 15k housing bonus, 320k RSU I am trying hard to get the RSU up, does this seem fair and what max can I expect ? Does oculus compare to other FB orgs in terms of compensation ?
320k is considered low for L5 SWE
Do you have an estimate on what I should expect ? Based on other blind posts I was hoping close to 500k but I really don’t want to sound greedy and unreasonable
That is avg. 500k is typically phd with 10 - 15 yrs exp

I thought most of Oculus Research is in Redmond with a small office is Sausalito. Just curious, what’s your domain expertise for which you interviewed at Oculus Research. Your offer from Oculus Research doesn’t seem to be that better from your current Apple compensation.
I have been in deep negotiations with them but they are not very willing to change the RSUs based on what I have in Apple, the 374 number was based on 167 as stock price which now has increased so I am in the process of trying to get another offer to see if it helps my case
Did they specifically ask you about un-vested RSUs at Apple before giving you the offer?
Oculus research is now FB Reality Labs. Seems like it is getting more integrated into FB.
I had my interview with Facebook Reality Labs (Oculus Research) yesterday. The questions (domain specific questions) were pretty detailed though I will say the people were very nice. Overall I had a nice interview experience; let’s see what feedback I get from their side.

Stay with AAPL. VR is dying. Plus oculus is shitty
