The wise and cynical people of blind, I ask for your guidance. Recently got this offer, wanted your thoughts on what I should negotiate about. I have great PhD work and 4 YEO after that. Base 192k Sign on bonus 30k Rsu 300k 5k reloc plus the moving package Location: Santa clara (should I negotiate for remote now or deal with it later with my manager later on? I prefer san diego)
Thank you, but how? I have great background and technically I am really strong. But haggling is really really not one of my skills, kinda naive and shy on that. Any recommendations?
Why don’t you just copy and paste the second sentence and forward it to your recruiter?
Try to negotiate ur TC as much as you can now. Changing later will be way harder

Don't be, you will regret it later. Do ur diligence researching what other peers with similar background are getting and use it as ur reference point
RSU is above par. Base is just at midpoint. You can push to 202K. In terms of negotiation. Just say that i am looking at 200+ base and promise to sign it as soon as new offer is delivered.
thanks for the advice. I'll try this!
Will do!

Why no one cares about the lives lost in Gaza, Israel and busy in their own lives?
I think that base is low given your circumstance. I know a few IC4 PhDs who get between 200k to 210k Sign on is ok. RSU... Sounds low compared to what they granted in the past + appreciation. Perhaps not too bad considering the current stock price, I dunno. My advice? Negotiate hard, don't leave a cent on the table. Nv is known to low ball on their initial offer. If they play the ESPP card tell them to get lost. Remember, no cash bonus in Nv and raises and refreshers are very mediocre, so get as much as you can. As for remote, don't mention just yet or they'll low ball even more. Nv is very flexible with relocation once you join.
Thank you for the advice. 2 questions; 1. If I discuss starting remote, at least the first year due to pandemic, with my manager, would it still affect the offer? 2. how do I negotiate? I cant find a good site for salary comparison for the role honestly. I also have ML/DL skillset that might be an asking point. Should I use that?
