Meta wants to hire me back so I continue with the same package I had before layoffs at same level I am feeling a lot of performance pressure w.r.t. citadel one. Perhaps because I have < 3 YoE? Will that be a good career move? Anyone at Citadel/Jane Street confirm how the WLB is in those firms? PS: I'm a leetcode monkey/junkey so I perform well in interviews but not really a strong SWE tbh. YoE: < 3 Current TC: 0 (Laid off) Edit: Joined Citadel. Sorry for the late response. Was on a trip overseas #fintech #faang #layoff

Why is our country owned by Israel? I don't want my tax dollars fund genocide. How can we stop this nonsense?
Citadel hands down. With a steady supply of coke, you’re solid!
Citadel is team-dependent. If it’s one of the quant teams, then you definitely should go. You’ll be working with the smartest people on earth and It will be worth the grind. If it’s middle / back office teams, wlb will be better but it would teach you way less than Meta.
How do promo/increments work there?
Back office team wlb is not great either. That is also team dependent In your case, go with Citadel. Worse case you can go back to another company after a year or two if needed. You'll do fine. We all have some sort of imposter syndrome at work. Just learn to live with it.
What is the actual title for citadel? It doesn't show on their website that they're hiring SWEs in Miami.
Miami w TC sounds fun
That's what I was thinking as well... But bit afraid as I'm not a good SWE
u don’t need to be a good swe in finance as leadership weren’t good swe’s either tech is where u need to be a good swe with code reviews emphasizing code quality for its own sake.
Citadel is in Miami too?
I think they moved their hq there
You will be paying crazy state taxes in NY which you can use to rent an apartment in a nice loc in Miami or invest it. If savings is something you’re looking for but if you want to live, like to go out and have a great night life ig NYC will be better no doubt Miami has a nightlife as well but that’s not the safest with relaxed gun laws.
With the gov state government in Florida you might want to check all the laws they are creating and updating so if that doesn’t suits you NYC is a better option
Florida government is pretty hands off. The people suck but a state with no income tax isn’t exactly swimming in resources to enforce anything against people with decent income
There's a hiring freeze at meta below e5 across all teams, i had to wait to interview.
Citadel dude. Not even close.
I'm really not a good SWE. Just leetcode junkey 🥺. I don't want to shoot myself in the foot with a move i can't handle.
You can transition towards quant if you got in the right team
