Please help me evaluate an offer from Workday Current TC at Microsoft 223K base + 33K bonus+ 40K RSU L64 and YOE is 10 years I have an offer from WorkDay for 220K base+50K sign on +230K RSUs for P4
Which org? Few orgs in Workday are really toxic so be careful.
I have made sure that the org is not toxic. Don't want to reveal too much on blind!
MSFT stock is great, curious why would u consider this move?
They don't give enough refreshers. They have also said that there would be no merit increases this year.
Which location?
Where is the hike? It is a pay cut in terms of base pay
Nice offer from wday, much better than my compensation as P4
Does workday give end of year bonus?
Is p4 equal to a senior software or staff engineer role?
Better stay with Microsoft as I don't see a big enough hike for the jump.Workday is not giving stock refreshers as it was before. Only for very high performers plus don't believe managers words about promo during the offer times.
How are annual refreshers at Workday?
50 p.c of base RSUs for everyone and that changed with the arrival of our new RSU. Now only top performers get 50 p.c and average performers 15-25 p.c and lower performers 0 p.c
230k stocks each year? That’s awesome
Most probably over 4 years
Congratulations. Seems like a distributed systems role. 220 is the midpoint. You can leverage 5 or 10k more on base But stock is max and they can’t bump it afaik. Since they see you as a potential p5, you have been given a hefty sign on to match that.
If you aimed for a P4, and got this offer it’s gain since given the market timing and workdays pay bands this is decent. If you want to be a p5(principal) then you are losing it. Probably you must try for principal role within workday or elsewhere. If your intention is to bump your comp, then you must skip. 240k is going to be impossible. But doesn’t hurt to ask. If they have candidates in pipeline they might not for sure. Market is brutal, so getting calls itself is difficult elsewhere. Your offer above which is kinda good at this time tells me either you were a super great candidate or came in via referral. Id say decide based on why you moving.
👍🏼
You are coming in with high base and rsu , pretty good chance you won’t get any raise or refreshers the first year. So be prepared for that. I had the same experience this year
It’s a standard offer for distributed systems role. OP will get a refresh if they are not below mediocre. Is yours distributed as well?
Is it for bay area location ? If so, it is a great offer. How was the interview experience? Is it all leetcode based? Easy ?medium?
There was two leetcode medium. The main focus was on system design though. I had 2 system design and 1 based on my experience
