Offer at Lucid Motors

I got an offer at Lucid. Pondering it at the moment. I wanted to get the community’s impression. Offer: Title: Senior Embedded SW Engineer, AD platform Base 145k RSU 100k over 4 years, 25% vest first year. 5k bonus 14k reloc Current situation : Senior Embedded SW Engineer, TC 112k Yoe: 6 in auto industry, 9 engineering total (incl. other indus.) Other factors: Currently living in a region with a much lower cost of living than the Bay Area Not US citizen nor permanent resident. No sponsorship was offered by Lucid (other than TN temporary worker status) Questions : Where does this offer stand? Is it competitive? What about Lucid ? Does it have the potential to become a Tesla or even better ?

Pretty low offer but they do have a pretty solid car but with your visa situation I would look elsewhere

I think you could ask for a technical specialist role and bump up the base and rsu given your yoe

Ask for 180k base at least for Bay Area

Honestly as a lucid employee I'd avoid working here; the culture is terrible and I don't have faith in our product. The reason I took this job is to be able to come to the US. Your offer is good for Lucid standards but poor for the bay area.

How can you not believe in the Air. Il looks so promising (serious question)

Lucid Motors alt-thanos Mar 11, 2022

@Stellantis ignore the screwup voWa38. There are too many whiny brats in the company writing crappy s/w and complaining when it doesn't work. The core of the car (powertrain etc.) is extremely solid, we just need better Infotainment & Adas s/w devs. It's a risk but fun adventure. Still very much a startup so much room for growth & improvements.

Lucid WLB, culture, and day to day is terrible. The management ruins this company from the inside out. It might be different for you since you're software, but I've been here a little over a year and I'm making moves to gtfo as soon as possible. Maybe they'll be successful in like 10 years or something, but they sure as hell don't really listen to their employees, even when you have substantial automotive experience. Would recommend you try what @deadwing92 suggests; Counter for a specialist role and more money and if they don't budge, it's their loss. Because if they don't budge initially on the salary, they really make it a game of moving targets once you go to ask them for a promotion or raise.

Don’t do it, stay as far away from Lucid. Even the software side of the house is a complete mess. You will work a lot of long hours and stress out because of it. Stay where you are currently at and avoid the headache.

That’s on the level of a non-tech offer.
