Hi, Just wanted your guys two cents on what i should choose, i am leaning towards oracle given the pip stories at amazon. Only concern is blind & CSQC reddit seems to shit on oracle (Non-OCI). Oracle IC1 (Redwood City, CA) Base: 120 Stock: 54/ yr - ( 4yrs) Sign-on: 40 Total : 214 first year - 174 second year Amazon SDE1 (Seattle, WA) Base: 145 Stock: 35 Sign on: 35 Total: 215 first year - 180 second year Oracle pros: interesting team, highly educated people from top universities, the role is more researched focused and tied with Oracle labs. Seems pretty lax WLB from people i met. Amazon pros: more cash and money, pip horror stories, better brand (i guess). Don’t know about WLB. Stock refreshers. Current TC: None (Freshie) YOE: 0
Dude take oracle why make your life miserable at Amazon
How is OAL?
No idea how the team itself is, but working with them is THE WORST
Go for oracle if you want a relaxed WLB.
Is OAL chill?
Anyday amazon, i was in a similar situation long back. Chose amazon and glad i made that decision looking at my progression and learning throughout
Wont oracle be on par in learning for a fresh graduate?
I plan to switch in 1.5 - 2 years anyway, regardless of company.
How’s the comp for amazon 215? It will be 145+35+0.05*35*3000 (hypothetical stock price, and stocks rounded up) ~ 186.
Its first year only for amazon. They got refreshers too. Plus i plan to change in 1-1.5 regardless of company
Still isn’t clear to me how it’s 215. You get 5% stocks, base and sign on. Base + sign on = 180. 2 stocks at 3000 = 6k. Where’s the other 29k from. And what refreshers?
Have you tried to use OCP?? Surprised it's so bad when so many good AWS engineers left for Oracle
Are these remote or in person?
I was at Amazon for 10 years and joined oracle earlier this month. My opinion is probably biased lol
How is it so far? Did you leave amazon on a bad note?
