Role: Staff MLE Location: Bay Area 8+ years of experience in data science and machine learning engineering. Current TC: - Base: 195K - Bonus: 39K (often not paid)
Looks like a great offer for non-FAANG. Which team is this for?
Take it based on what you are getting now.
It’s a step up from you have op. Offer in line with comp for swe. Get ready for a shitshow though
Can you elaborate on "shitshow"? Are they related to work-life balance, leadership issues, office politics, or the impact of projects or something else?
Everything that you mentioned. I am not part of MLE but considering that our own LLM had a hard time getting any traction while our competitors have all not just launched, but already added different iterations of each should tell you a lot about us.
You can’t get a better offer for this grade
Walmart only have one grant date...keep that in mind for rsu grant
Yup important fact. Make sure new hire RSUs are in the offer as otherwise op will need to wait until next April
One grant date is so lame. Basically if you get promoted after the grant date, the RSU doesn't get factor in until next year there is no one year vesting and it's all quarterly, which makes up for it
You can also ask for sign on RSU as well in addition to sign on bonus
Thank you for the suggestion. I asked about that, and I was told that Walmart has discontinued offering sign-on RSUs. Being at Walmart, could you confirm if this is indeed the case?
Then do not take the offer. You won’t see a dime of your stocks until April 2025. That sign on bonus also has a 2 year window that if you resign within two years you may need to pay all of it back. You won’t see full 100k until after 3 years on the job. Meaning 2027
Congrats on your offer.
Thats a nice package
Congrats really good offer
