Twitter tc sounds like $276k? sounds pretty decent and difficult for Amazon to beat. Plus good timing with Elon takeover. If you’re TT/HV3, Amazon would dive and save to match Gusto
Correct. It changes in the second-fourth years due to refreshers and bonus. With all the uncertainty around Twitter, would you still go to Twitter or choose Gusto and take a pay cut for more stability? If they both paid the same, would that change?
I doubt stability is an issue. I would go with Twitter > Gusto or have Amazon D&S.
If this was before the Elon situation, Twitter is holistically better 9/10 times. Not sure how the buyout is changing things, but I would personally avoid joining until the dust settles. Perhaps insights from someone at Twitter would be helpful.
True. Unfortunately the best insight from within is ‘nobody knows what’s going to happen’. There appears to be a lot of confusion among employees regarding their future. What happens at Elon’s level may not impact me as much but it’s going to be a risk if layoffs happen to cut costs. The upside is they’ll pay all the comp in cash, so that at least guarantees the comp. But also, there may not be any upside since the company is going private (unless they give extra options etc)
Is he still planning on taking the company private?
Voting for Twitter. Also, just a general question for Blinders - how do you know if a role is L3 or L5? If L5 another way of saying Staff level and L3 Senior?
Leveling greatly varies across companies. L3 at Gusto is Senior and L5 at Twitter is mid level.
💡thank u
Didn’t realize Gusto was paying that much. I’d personally probably go with that due to Elon openly being devoid of empathy for anyone other than himself. I wouldn’t like working for someone like that and would be skeptical of the culture he’s about to implement.
Lol surprised by everyone recommending Twitter over Gusto, curious why people are suggesting it. The Twitter designers I know are super frustrated. Bureaucratic org, their work doesn't ship, everything moves slowly. Name recognition is better for sure, but I get the impression that people's careers stagnate there. Can't imagine how crazy the product strategy will get if/when Musk takes over. If you're really undecided, I'd schedule some calls with people at both places and probe for potential problems.
Curious what is your final decision op? Also are those final offers after negotiation?
Declined both offers and decided to stay at Amazon. Was very excited and impressed with Gusto but they were extremely rigid with their offer and I would’ve taken a huge pay cut if I had joined them. Didn’t feel it was worth the risk in this economy.
YOE location?
