I am preferring long term stability(in case switching to ICE at senior manager level, will that be good move) , F5 just did layoffs and I am not sure if they will do it again(couldn’t find information on ICE, this offer is from IMT). F5 team is very flexible and easy going work but ICE is surely going to be hectic . Please also share the reason in comments on why not ICE or why not F5? ICE here is IMT division (ICE Mortgage Technology)
Congrats OP on getting offers! Would you please share some insights on your SRE interview process? I am on the market for Devops/SRE roles and I would really appreciate if you could shed some light on it. :) congrats once again!
DM me.
Just did, thank you.
Not here to say why ICE or F5 as I advocate to accept both
Ah I wish.. I am more inclined towards ICE, not due to money difference but stability and position.
I don’t see any issues with accepting ICE and then possibly delaying start date or acceptance with F5 so you can get a feel for the new position.
ICE. But is it the actual ICE or is it NYSE ?
IMT actually. ICE Mortgage Technology
Oh, I see. Then I am not sure about ICE. Maybe ask them about the tech stack and see if you are interested.
ICE is horrible company! Bad culture and bunch of idiots!
Care to elaborate? Is it Personal experience? Which division of ICE are you referring to?
Here is my experience 1. 2-4 hr long meeting with 50+ folks is common :) don’t matter if it’s weekend 2. Asian dominated several late night 3. After the buy out and merger- it’s like game of throne trying to grab work and blame games 4. Leadership focus change all the time confuse the teams Good Luck 👍
Blind polls are going to be money oriented results. The higher the tc the higher the inclination for poll results to be favorable. Go with F5 if you want 5+ years atleast with a company .
So f5 offers stable job going forward? Less chances of laying off in general?
No tech company can assure you that. But currently how things going it does provide good relative stability and work culture.
Nashville over ATL any day. And you might not want to be tied to a mortgage company in this economy. Then again, who TF knows anymore.
F5 is a sinking ship IMO. Given layoffs, eliminating bonus, merit, promotions, and requiring RTO they will bleed top talent. They have acquired 6-7 companies in the last 4-5 years in effort to shift towards Saas and still have nothing to show for it because of the lack of executive strategy, vision, and execution. The way they are cooking the books and the fact the chief people officer is leaving (she was the best exec F5 has), My bet is they will get acquired in the next 1-2 years. 2-3 years ago I would have rolled the dice on F5, Not today. It’s clear they will likely always be an antiquated hardware company. Is it XC or NGINX that you are considering?
My interactions with F5 IT is they are always understaffed, underfunded and overworked. I think this got worse after the layoffs. The easygoing aspect may be a personality of the team, but expectations from the top or other teams are not easygoing.
This position is under their TS group shared services.
TS is a fairly steady/stable place to be. Best of luck!! Comp-wise f5 has always been very conservative unless your supporting FIPs or XC at a high level.

Is ICE IMT a stable company sector to be in? I could not find much info on salary range. Any insight there will help
